Matt Lister speaks on LGBTQ+ issues and history within sport at Samsung KX’s Co-Lab | News | Talent | MN2S

MN2S has partnered member of Drag Race UK’s Brit Crew and award-winning canoeist Matt Lister with Samsung for an event exploring challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community.

Ru Paul’s Drag Race’s “Brit Crew” member and former British canoeist Matt Lister was invited to speak on the panel of Samsung KX’s Out of the Closet and On To the Pitch event on November 27th. He made use of his unique expertise and experiences on the panel alongside award-winning podcaster, writer and rugby player, Alexis Caught, transgender activist Kutchenga, BBC’s first LGBT correspondent Ben Hunte and former professional footballer Char Bailey.

As an openly gay member of the professional sports world, Lister knows how discriminatory the athletic realm can be towards the one in six people who identify as LGBTQ+. His meaningful perspective fostered an open discussion on homophobia and transphobia in sports that generated a thoughtful discussion among the panel members.

“I love getting to share my story at events like this because unlike so many, I had a really positive experience coming out whilst I was competing.”
