Channel 5 has rebooted the popular American reality television series for British viewers, hoping to find the perfect match for personal trainer Alex Marks.
Dating series The Bachelor is returning to British screens this March. In case you’ve forgotten the premise in the six years since it last aired, here’s the general idea: Channel 5 has selected one lucky love-seeker – Kent native Alex Marks – to take part in the series, hoping to find him a “special someone” from a varied cast of 17 single ladies that ranges from models to yoga teachers to CEOs.
Over the course of ten episodes set in South Africa, 31-year-old Alex will get to know each of the contestants intimately over a sequence of exciting and romantic dates, gradually eliminating those he doesn’t find particularly charming. As the series progresses, Alex will narrow the field until he finds himself the love of his life, or goes nuts in the process.
This season of The Bachelor UK is hosted by ex-TOWIE star and reality TV heart-throb Mark Wright. Acting not only as presenter, but friend and confidant to the bachelor himself, Wright is there to guide Alex through every step of his journey. Speaking with Standard Online, he said: “I wanted to help him and I wanted him to find love because I knew he was there for the right reasons.”
