The reinvigoration of London’s club scene is set to continue in 2019 with the opening of a new purpose-built South London venue Magazine London.
The multi-purpose space, located in Greenwich, will hold 3000 visitors and is intended to be used for parties, exhibitions, conferences, concerts and other kinds of event. Construction will begin in December, with a view to open in summer 2019.
Magazine is a project from the team behind Canada Water’s mega-venue Printworks, The Vibration Group’s Venue Lab. The group also plan to build an adajcent 7000-capacity outdoor events and festival site nearby on the Greenwich Peninsula, forming a combined 10,000 capacity area which will host festivals and outdoor gigs. Information has not yet been shared on Magazine’s opening hours and license.
Vibration Group CEO Simon Tracey has said: “London is still very much at the forefront of live events globally and Magazine, with it’s incredible flexibility both indoor and out, is ground breaking.”
In August, Shapes Collective opened FOLD, a new 600-capacity, 24-hour venue in Canning Town.
