We are pleased to welcome R&B legend Ginuwine to the MN2S booking agency roster this week.
The 1996 Timbaland-produced classic ‘Pony‘ gave the Washington-born singer one of the most enduring R&B anthems of all time, and one whose futuristic production continues to make it a dancefloor hit some 20 years later. The vocoder-bassed track hit No. 6 on the US Billboard Top 100, and went Platinum. It sold over 1 million copies worldwide, also achieving Platinum status in Australia and hitting the Top 10 there, in the Netherlands, Belgium and Canada amongst other countries.
Ginuwine’s first two albums went Platinum in the US, with a slew of chart hits following over the decade after ‘Pony’ was released. Other notable Top 10 hits include ‘I Need A Girl, Pt. 2‘ with P. Diddy, and he collaborated with Timbaland once again in 2009 on ‘Get Involved‘. He remains one of the most distinctive and loved voices in R&B music, and has collaborated with the likes of R. Kelly, Brandy and Missy Elliot over the years. His long-awaited ‘Three Kings’ album alongside Tyrese and Tank received a GRAMMY nomination in 2013.
Now rejigged in a chunky house style by UK duo Tough Love – who hit the UK Top 20 with their version of Jodeci’s ‘Freek’n You’ – ‘Pony (Jump On It)‘ will make its assault on the charts on August 14. The track has already racked up over 600,000 plays on YouTube and looks set to be another big hit, bringing the classic to a whole new generation.
