Nomi Ruiz’s Jessica 6 premiere ‘Down Low’ | News | MN2S

This week sees NYLON premiere Jessica 6’s ‘Down Low’, the new single from Nomi Ruiz’s dance project.

Out on 28 July as part of the group’s ‘Capricorn EP’, the track was produced by house hotshots Thodoris Triantafillou and CJ Jeff – the Greek duo who have garnered acclaim for their outings on labels including Souvenir and Material Series.

Praise for Nomi has coming from far and wide, with The Guardian saying she “boasts the spookily effortless air of a future pop icon” and French Vogue citing her as “one girl to follow”. Her group’s forthcoming EP is the follow-up to 2011 LP ‘See The Light’, which featured her duet with former Hercules & Love Affair co-collaborator Antony, ‘Prisoner Of Love’. The EP covers varied ground, from house and nu-disco to R&B and will be released on her own, rebooted label, Park Side Records.

After breaking through as one of the main vocalists on the aforementioned Hercules debut LP, Nomi continued to build her reputation by working with esteemed electronic producers such as Eli Escobar, Rampa, &ME, Dim Vach and Olga Kouklaki.

She also featured in Charles Atlas and Antony’s ‘Turning’, which was broadcast on the screens of Times Square, and in 2013 she created an installation at New York’s Clocktower Gallery to launch her ‘Borough Gypsy’. She has also been a muse for Mulger, starring in one of their campaign films, and she has performed for Dior Homme in China and Paris.
