Danny Masseling, known professionally as Angerfist, was born on June 20, 1981, in Denekamp, Netherlands. He began his music production career at the age of 16, initially experimenting with 4-beat programmed loops and breakbeats. In 2001, Masseling submitted a demo to DJ Buzz Fuzz, director of BZRK Records, which led to his signing. He subsequently released his initial EPs under the aliases “Menace II Society” and “Angerfist.” His sound, characterized by hard bass drums and sampled vocals, quickly gained traction within the gabber scene.
Over his career, Angerfist has produced several notable hardcore tracks, including “Dance With The Wolves,” “Raise Your Fist,” and “Riotstarter.” His increasing recognition led to his selection to produce the anthem for Masters of Hardcore in 2005, titled “The World Will Shiver.” Angerfist has performed at major events such as Sensation Black, Masters of Hardcore, Defqon.1, Mysteryland, and Dominator. He has consistently been ranked in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs, appearing at 39th in 2011, rising to 34th in 2013, and reaching his highest position at No. 29 in 2018. As of 2023, he was ranked No. 71 on the DJ Mag list.
Angerfist also performs live with MC Prozac (Minne Roos), maintaining a consistent visual identity with specially designed ice hockey masks and black or white hoodies. This masked persona originated from a need for comfort during live performances. Off stage, in July 2013, it was announced that MC Prozac would assume the live performance role for the Bloodcage project, while both artists would continue their studio collaborations. During the Covid-19 pandemic, starting in September 2021, Masseling initiated “AngerGames” where he engaged with fans through live game streams.
