Roger Sellers, known professionally as Bayonne, launched his professional recording career with the release of his self-titled debut album in 2010. This was followed by ‘Moments’ in 2011, released via Pau Wau Records, and ‘8 Songs’ in 2012, independently released on Bandcamp. These early works established an electro-acoustic avant-folk style and cultivated a local fan base in Austin, Texas, through live, solo performances distinguished by innovative loop-layering techniques. This period of artistic development culminated in the 2014 album ‘Primitives,’ originally issued by Punctum Records, which was subsequently re-released in 2016 under the Bayonne moniker by Mom + Pop Music, signaling a definitive shift towards a more electronic-focused sound.
The re-release of ‘Primitives’ in 2016 through Mom + Pop/City Slang solidified Bayonne’s new artistic direction. The same year, his track ‘Appeals’ was prominently featured in the EA Sports game FIFA 17, expanding his reach to a global audience. Continuing his prolific output, Bayonne released the ‘I Know’ EP on Mom + Pop Records in 2018. His sophomore LP as Bayonne, ‘Drastic Measures,’ followed in 2019 via Mom + Pop Records.
In 2023, Bayonne released the full-length album ‘Temporary Time,’ which continued his signature blend of dance-friendly rhythms and ambient elements, garnering attention for its intricate production and atmospheric depth. Building on the success of ‘Temporary Time,’ Bayonne released ‘Temporary Time Orchestrated’ in 2024, an ambitious project that reimagined the album’s tracks with orchestral arrangements. He remains an active and influential figure in the electronic and ambient music landscape, consistently producing and performing new material. Bayonne is recognized for his unique multi-instrumental proficiency and self-taught approach to music creation, continuing to evolve his intricate loop-based compositions for audiences worldwide.
