Bayonne

Roger Sellers, performing under the moniker Bayonne, is an American minimalist composer and electronic musician originally from Spring, Texas, and currently based in Austin, Texas. His musical journey began at an early age, inspired by artists like Eric Clapton and Phil Collins. At six years old, he received his first drum kit, laying the foundation for a career marked by multi-instrumental proficiency and a self-taught approach to music creation, alongside formal study.

Sellers initiated his professional recording career by releasing three albums under his own name. These early works, including the self-titled album in 2010, ‘Moments’ in 2011 via Pau Wau Records, and ‘8 Songs’ in 2012 through self-release on Bandcamp, explored an electro-acoustic avant-folk style. He cultivated a local fan base in Austin through his live, solo performances, which were notable for their loop-layering techniques. This period of development informed his later work under the Bayonne pseudonym.

The transition to the Bayonne identity occurred in 2016 with the re-release of his 2014 album ‘Primitives,’ originally issued by Punctum Records, under Mom + Pop Music. This marked a shift towards a more electronic-focused sound. His sophomore LP as Bayonne, ‘Drastic Measures,’ was released in 2019 and featured a denser atmospheric sound influenced by 1960s symphonic pop, achieving a place on Billboard’s U.S. Dance/Electronic Sales chart. Bayonne continues to produce and perform, releasing ‘Temporary Time’ in 2023 and ‘Temporary Time Orchestrated’ in 2024, maintaining his signature blend of dance-friendly rhythms and ambient elements.
