Dead Poet Society is an American rock band that has made significant strides in the music industry since their formation in 2013 in Boston, Massachusetts. Comprising talented musicians Jack Underkofler (vocals, guitar), Jack Collins (guitar), Nick Taylor (bass guitar), and Will Goodroad (drums), the band quickly established themselves as a formidable force in the indie rock scene. Their commitment to self-production and self-recording laid a strong foundation for their artistic vision, culminating in their debut album -!- released in 2021 under Spinefarm Music Group.
The band’s journey took a pivotal turn in 2016 when their music caught the attention of the influential Mexican blog Pepe Problemas. This exposure led to a collaboration with the rising rock band Sputnik, who invited Dead Poet Society to open for them on their national tour of Mexico. This opportunity allowed the band to connect with a broader audience, and they subsequently toured Mexico seven more times, solidifying their fanbase and reputation in the region.
In 2019, Dead Poet Society made their mark in the United States by opening for notable acts such as Andrés and Badflower. These performances not only showcased their dynamic sound, described by Underkofler as a blend of “heavy indie rock” and “djent pop,” but also established their presence in the competitive U.S. music landscape. Their ability to captivate audiences with heavy guitar riffs and catchy choruses has garnered them critical acclaim and a loyal following.
As they continue to evolve, Dead Poet Society is set to release their highly anticipated album Fission in 2024, promising to build on their unique sound and artistic growth. With a strong discography that includes multiple EPs and singles, the band is poised for even greater success, making them a band to watch in the coming years.
