Alice Victoria Rose Chater, born in 1992 in Margate, England, developed an early interest in music, inspired by her parents’ opera collection and vocalists such as Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, and Christina Aguilera. She later attended the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London, focusing on her performing arts education. Her career began with uploading covers online in the mid-2010s, which led to a significant career turning point when she signed a recording contract with Virgin EMI Records in 2017. This marked her official entry into the music industry, where she began releasing original material and collaborating with various songwriters and producers.
Chater released several singles, with notable tracks including “Girls x Boys” (2018), “Heartbreak Hotel” (2018), and “Hourglass” (2018). Her 2019 collaboration with Professor Green on the single “Got It All” reached No. 2 on UK iTunes and No. 48 on the UK Singles Chart. In the same year, she collaborated with Australian rapper Iggy Azalea on the song “Lola,” which charted in the UK, US, Scotland, and New Zealand. She embarked on her first UK headline tour in September 2019, which included a sold-out London show.
Following a brief hiatus and a label change during lockdown, Chater signed with Epic Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music. In 2024, she released new music, including “Don’t Let My Boyfriend Get In Your Way” and “Come Alive,” with “Bed of Lies” following in early 2025.
