Jessica Nwokike, known professionally as Amaka, has carved a remarkable path in the music industry since her early days in Lagos, Nigeria. After relocating to the United States at the age of eight, her passion for music blossomed, particularly during her time at a performing arts school in Southern California. This foundation set the stage for her future endeavors in singing and music production, leading her to co-found the acclaimed duo VanJess with her sister.

Under the guidance of industry veteran Tunji Balogun, Amaka and VanJess signed with RCA Records through the Keep Cool label. Their journey was marked by significant achievements, including two successful albums and multiple award nominations. Notably, their collaboration on Kaytranada’s Grammy-winning album showcased their talent on a global platform, further solidifying their reputation in the R&B and soul genres.

As Amaka transitions into her solo career, she continues to demonstrate her versatility and creativity. Her debut solo project, the Kaytranada-produced EP “Oasis,” has already garnered attention for its innovative sound and lyrical depth.
