Aviva Anastasia Payne, known professionally as AViVA, was born in Sydney, Australia, in the mid-1990s. Growing up, she was influenced by her family’s musical background, with her father and uncles actively involved in music. Her early education included studying violin, which laid a foundation for her musical endeavors. She later pursued higher education, earning a degree in theater and education from the University of Notre Dame Australia.
AViVA began her professional music career in the 2010s. Her initial work included the left-field electro-pop song “Crystaleyes”, released under a slightly modified moniker. In late 2017, she adopted the mononym AViVA and released “GRRRLS”, a track that quickly gained widespread attention, exceeding 100 million streams by the end of 2018. This song marked a significant turning point in her career, establishing her distinct sound.
Following the success of “GRRRLS”, AViVA continued to release a series of singles. In 2018, she released “Drown” and “Blame It on the Kids”, with the latter also accumulating millions of streams. The year 2019 saw the release of tracks such as “Blackout” and “Rabbit Hole”, which further contributed to her streaming successes. These accumulated singles were later featured on her debut album, “VOLUME I”, released in June 2020. She followed this with “VOLUME II” in October 2021, which included singles like “HOUDINI” and “TWISTED”. In 2022, she released “The Saint and the Sinner” and “Broken”, a collaboration with the Tech Thieves, in anticipation of her third album.
