About

Badflower, an American rock band, was established in Los Angeles, California in February 2013. The band’s lineup includes Josh Katz on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Joey Morrow on lead guitar and backing vocals, Anthony Sonetti on drums, and Alex Espiritu on bass. Prior to forming Badflower, Katz and Morrow met in 2010 as music school students in Hollywood, California, initially forming a 5-piece band called The Cartunes and releasing a self-produced EP in 2011. After personnel changes, they reformed as Badflower, recruiting Alex Espiritu and Anthony Sonetti, and quickly gained local recognition through performances in Los Angeles, including a weekly residency at The Key Club. Their early efforts attracted the attention of industry figures such as Lance Bass.

The band’s career progressed significantly after signing with independent record label Hundred Handed, leading to their debut single “Soap,” released on March 4, 2015, accompanied by a music video. This period saw them supporting international acts like The Veronicas in the United Kingdom and performing at notable festivals such as SXSW. A demo of their song “Animal” was featured in John Varvatos’ New York Fashion Week show, leading to a major label deal with John Varvatos / Republic Records in March 2016. The band’s self-produced EP, “Temper,” released on November 4, 2016, garnered critical acclaim, with Apple Music naming them Artist of the Week. The single “Animal” from this EP reached number 28 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock Chart by December 2016 and accumulated over two million Spotify streams by 2018.

Badflower continued touring extensively from 2017 to 2020, opening for bands such as Pop Evil, Red Sun Rising, and Greta Van Fleet, and performing at major music festivals including Buzzfest and Rock on Range. In late 2017, they began recording their debut full-length album, “OK, I’m Sick,” which was released on February 22, 2019, under John Varvatos / Big Machine Label Group. This album further solidified their presence in the rock genre, with tracks like “Ghost” achieving RIAA Gold certification. Subsequently, their second album, “This Is How the World Ends,” was released on September 24, 2021, and was recognized by Loudwire as one of the best rock/metal albums of the year. Badflower is also set to release their third studio album, “No Place Like Home,” on June 20, 2025, preceded by several new singles released in 2024 and 2025.
