Upon receiving his first major industry recognition with a 2010 Juno Award nomination for Roots & Traditional Album of the Year – Solo for his debut album, Pink Strat (2009), Bahamas, known by his given name Afie Jurvanen, quickly established himself as a distinctive voice in the Canadian music landscape. Jurvanen’s early career included significant collaborations with esteemed artists such as The Lumineers, Feist, Jack Johnson, and City and Colour, which provided a foundation for his solo endeavors. He followed this success with his second album, Barchords, released in 2012. This album earned him two additional nominations at the 2013 Juno Awards for Adult Alternative Album of the Year and Songwriter of the Year, specifically highlighting his work on the tracks ‘Be My Witness,’ ‘Caught Me Thinking,’ and ‘Lost in the Light.’ Jurvanen’s career trajectory continued to ascend with the release of his critically acclaimed third album, Bahamas Is Afie, in 2014.

This consistent output underscores his enduring appeal and artistic evolution, culminating most recently in his sixth studio album, Bootcut, released in 2023. Looking forward, Bahamas has officially announced his highly anticipated seventh album, My Second Last Album, with a confirmed release date of October 2025. This upcoming project continues to build on his distinctive sound and songwriting, reinforcing his status as a prominent and evolving artist in the contemporary music scene.
