The band consists of five talented members: singer Saiki Atsumi, guitarist/singer Miku Kobato, lead guitarist Kanami Tōno, bassist Misa, and drummer Akane Hirose. Their innovative concept, which juxtaposes a cute maid image with powerful rock performances, has captivated audiences both in Japan and internationally. They are currently signed to Pony Canyon and released their latest studio album, Epic Narratives, in September 2024.
The journey of Band-Maid began when Miku Kobato, inspired by her experience working in a maid café, envisioned a band that would combine this theme with rock music. Their first mini-album, Maid in Japan, was released in January 2014, showcasing their potential and leading to their first chart placement with the mini-album New Beginning in November 2015.
Band-Maid gained significant international attention in 2015 with their music video for “Thrill,” which garnered over a million views. Their subsequent releases, including the full-length albums Just Bring It and World Domination, solidified their presence in the rock scene, with both albums achieving impressive chart rankings on the Japanese Oricon weekly albums chart. Their energetic performances and engaging stage presence have led to successful tours across Japan, the United States, and Europe.
In addition to their musical achievements, Band-Maid has made notable appearances in various media, including a cameo in the Netflix film Kate.
