About

Barbara Pravi, born Barbara Piévic on April 10, 1993, in Paris, France, embarked on her music career in 2014 after collaborating with French musician Jules Jaconelli. She signed with Capitol Music France in 2015 and released her self-titled debut extended play, “Barbara Pravi,” in 2018, followed by “Reviens pour l’hiver” in 2020. Her heritage includes Serbian, Moroccan Jewish, Polish Jewish, and Iranian roots, influencing her decision to adopt the stage name Pravi, meaning ‘real’ or ‘authentic’ in Serbian, as a tribute to her grandfather. Beyond her performing career, Pravi has established herself as a prolific songwriter, penning tracks for notable artists including Yannick Noah, Julie Zenatti, Chimène Badi, Kylie Minogue, and Jaden Smith. A significant milestone in her songwriting journey was composing “J’imagine” for Valentina, which led to a victory at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2020 for France. She also co-wrote “Oh Maman!” for Lissandro, who secured another Junior Eurovision win for France in 2022.

Pravi gained international prominence when she represented France in the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 with her song “Voilà,” achieving second place, France’s best result since 1991. This accomplishment was followed by the release of her debut album, “On n’enferme pas les oiseaux,” on August 27, 2021, and an international tour. In 2023, Pravi transitioned from Capitol Music France to Virgin Records France and released her book “Lève-toi” alongside a single of the same name. Her acting career has seen her in roles such as Marion in the television film “La Sainte Famille” (2017) and Florence in the TV movie “Adieu Vinyle” (2023). She also starred in Claude Lelouch’s film “Finalement” (2024), for which she performed the entire soundtrack, which was nominated for the 81st Mostra de Venice Fiction Movie competition.

Throughout her career, Pravi has been an advocate for women’s rights and has openly discussed her experiences with domestic violence and abortions in her youth. She is actively involved in charitable causes, performing for initiatives promoting women’s rights and participating in charity events like the Belgian CAP48Heures (2024), which raised over 6 million euros. Her second studio album, “La Pieva,” was released in June 2024, followed by the commencement of her La Pieva tour. Pravi’s work continues to blend traditional French chanson with contemporary elements, establishing her as a versatile artist in music and acting.
