Boygenius, the acclaimed indie rock supergroup comprised of Julien Baker, Phoebe Bridgers, and Lucy Dacus, made a significant impact with their self-titled debut EP, ‘Boygenius,’ released in 2018. The EP, written, recorded, and self-produced primarily by women, received widespread critical acclaim, culminating in NPR Music naming it the 12th best album of 2018 despite its EP format. Following its release, the group embarked on a successful tour across the U.S., including notable performances on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’ and a Tiny Desk Concert. After their initial EP success, the members of Boygenius continued to cultivate their individual solo careers while maintaining their collaborative spirit.
Building on the momentum of ‘The Record,’ Boygenius released their second EP, ‘The Rest,’ in October 2023. The group concluded 2023 with a notable performance on ‘Saturday Night Live’ in November and a collaboration with Ye Vagabonds on a cover of ‘The Parting Glass.’ Their debut album’s immense success was further cemented in 2024 when ‘The Record’ garnered three prestigious Grammy Awards and one Brit Award. Following these significant accolades, Boygenius announced an indefinite hiatus in February 2024, concluding a prolific period of releases and performances.
