Brett Young

Brett Charles Young, born on March 23, 1981, in Anaheim, California, initially pursued a career in baseball. He was a talented pitcher, attending the University of Mississippi on a baseball scholarship and later playing for Irvine Valley College and California State University, Fresno. His aspirations for a professional baseball career were halted in 2003 due to an elbow injury he sustained while in college. This unexpected turn led him to reconsider his path, eventually inspiring him to return to music, an interest he had cultivated since high school when he stepped in for a band leader during a Christian worship meeting.

Young independently released several EPs and albums starting in 2007, including a self-titled four-song EP, ‘Make Believe’ (2011), ‘Brett Young’ (2012), ‘On Fire’ (2013), and ‘Broken Down’ (2013). His relocation to Nashville from Los Angeles marked a turning point, as he was signed by Big Machine Label Group in August 2015. This led to the release of his self-titled six-song EP in February 2016. The lead single, “Sleep Without You,” was released in April 2016. However, it was his follow-up single, “In Case You Didn’t Know,” released in January 2017, that became his signature song, achieving number one on the Country Airplay chart and being certified Diamond by the RIAA. His debut studio album, “Brett Young,” released in February 2017, debuted at number two on the Top Country Albums chart. He continued this success with his second major label album, “Ticket to L.A.,” in December 2018, which featured the lead single “Here Tonight” also reaching number one on Country Airplay in April 2019.

Most recently, Young released his third studio album, “Weekends Look a Little Different These Days,” in June 2021. The album’s lead single, “Lady,” written about his wife and daughter, also topped the Country Airplay chart in April 2021. He has continued to release music, including a Christmas album, “Brett Young & Friends Sing the Christmas Classics” (2021), “Across the Sheets” (2023), and has a forthcoming album, “2.0,” scheduled for 2025. His achievements have been recognized with awards such as the Academy of Country Music Awards for New Male Vocalist of the Year in 2018, and nominations for numerous other industry accolades, cementing his position in country pop music.
