Rapper BRS Kash broke out into the music scene when his anthem ‘Throat Baby (Go Baby)’ went viral on social media in 2020. The infectiously catchy, lewd track with its midtempo, bouncy beat was embraced by social media users around the globe, and the single inspired a dance challenge that sent streaming numbers soaring into the millions. Kash signed with Love Renaissance (LVRN) – a subsidiary of Interscope – following the success of his song and dropped his eagerly anticipated debut mixtape, Kash Only at the start of 2021.
Born Kenneth Duncan, Jr. in Atlanta, his mother was a performer and the young Kash grew up surrounded by music. Kash has been rapping since he was 12 years old and entered his first talent show whilst in the 8th grade. It took him 15 years to land his breakout track, but Kash never considered doing anything other than music for a living.
Following the viral success of ‘Throat Baby (Go Baby)’ in 2020, the single smashed into the top 10 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Song chart. His debut mixtape Kash Only includes a remix of the single featuring DaBaby and City Girls, with some of the other tracks showing a more sensitive side to the rapper and showcasing the musical influences of his youth spent in East Atlanta. Stand-out tracks including club banger ‘Shake’, ‘Do It’ and ‘Kash App’ prove there’s much more to come from Kash in the future.
