Bryan Olesen

Bryan Olesen’s musical career began in 1997 when he co-founded the Christian rock band Casting Pearls in Lincoln, Nebraska, alongside bassist Chase Maranville and drummer Shane Coop. The band released their debut album, “Really Great Sinners,” in 2000, followed by “Casting Pearls” in 2004. During this period, Olesen also took on the role of lead guitarist and backing vocalist for the prominent Christian rock band, Newsboys, from 2003 to 2006. This dual commitment allowed him to gain broader exposure within the Christian music scene.

In 2008, Casting Pearls rebranded as VOTA to avoid confusion with another band, Casting Crowns. Under the new name, they released a self-titled album the same year, which achieved chart success, reaching No. 33 on the US Heatseekers chart and No. 25 on the US Christian Albums chart. VOTA maintained their commitment to social causes, partnering with non-profit organizations like Tiny Hands International for their 2013 album, “Love Found Me,” to combat human trafficking in India and Nepal. Their 2016 album, “Fearless,” supported 300 children in Panali, Nicaragua, through Food for the Hungry. Olesen’s musical journey continued to evolve, and by 2018, VOTA transitioned into a two-piece band with Olesen handling vocals, guitar, and bass, alongside drummer John Wooten.

Bryan Olesen’s career reached a new milestone in 2024 when he appeared on Season 25 of NBC’s ‘The Voice.’ His blind audition, performing OneRepublic’s “Love Runs Out,” resulted in immediate chair turns from coaches Reba McEntire, John Legend, and Dan + Shay, highlighting his vocal talent and stage presence to a national audience. This appearance brought renewed attention to his long-standing career and his band VOTA, further cementing his reputation as a versatile and enduring artist within the music industry.
