Flora Cash is a Swedish-American musical duo formed in 2012 by Kosovo-born Shpresa Lleshaj and American musician Cole Randall. The two initially connected online via SoundCloud, with Lleshaj residing in Stockholm and Randall in Minneapolis. After establishing a connection through shared musical interests, Lleshaj traveled to Minneapolis, and subsequently, they relocated together to Sweden, where they officially formed Flora Cash. Their partnership led to the release of their debut EP, “Mighty Fine,” in December 2012, followed by “Made It for You” in 2013 and “I Will Be There” in 2014. These early releases laid the groundwork for their distinct sound.
After signing with Swedish label Icons Creating Evil Art, Flora Cash released the mini-album “Can Summer Love Last Forever?” in March 2016. This release garnered them nominations for two GAFFA awards, recognizing them as both Swedish Artist of the Year and Swedish Newcomer of the Year. The duo achieved significant mainstream success with their song “You’re Somebody Else” from their 2017 debut full-length album, “Nothing Lasts Forever (And It’s Fine).” This track reached number one on American alternative radio and received Platinum certification in the U.S. from the RIAA, alongside Gold and Silver certifications in other countries.
Flora Cash made their American television debut performing “You’re Somebody Else” on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” in August 2018. They signed with Sony Music’s RCA Records in July 2018. Their career progressed with further albums, including “Baby, It’s Okay” (2020) and “Our Generation” (2021). In 2023, they released the classical EP “Vår Pil (Piano Quintet Suite för Rocker Peggy),” demonstrating their artistic range. Their fourth studio album, “behind every beautiful thing,” was released in October 2024, receiving critical acclaim for its emotional depth.
