Buck Meek established himself as a prominent guitarist and songwriter in the indie rock scene, notably co-founding the critically acclaimed band Big Thief in 2015 with Adrianne Lenker and Max Oleartchik. Prior to Big Thief’s formation, Meek collaborated with Lenker in 2014, releasing two EPs titled a-sides and b-sides. Big Thief quickly gained recognition, releasing their debut album Masterpiece in 2016, followed by Capacity in 2017. Demonstrating his multifaceted artistry, Meek also launched his solo career with the release of his self-titled debut album, Buck Meek, in May 2018.
Meek continued to build on this momentum, contributing to Big Thief’s increasing critical acclaim. In 2019, the band released two highly anticipated albums, U.F.O.F. and Two Hands. U.F.O.F.
The following year, Big Thief released their acclaimed album Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You in 2022, further solidifying the band’s position in contemporary music. Most recently, Meek unveiled his third solo album, Haunted Mountain, in August 2023, which received strong critical reception. Through his continuous output as a solo artist and his integral role in Big Thief, Buck Meek maintains a robust presence in the independent music scene. His consistent dedication to songwriting and guitar work, evident across numerous critically praised albums and high-profile collaborations, underscore his dynamic career trajectory and ongoing appeal within the industry.
