American rapper and songwriter Casey Joseph Jones is better known by the playful stage name Casey Veggies. His debut album Live & Grow was released in 2015, preceding the release of five independent mixtapes under the name Peas & Carats Int., a clothing and management company. Before Veggies’ success as a solo artist, he was a founding member of the LA-based hip hop collective Odd Future in 2007, whose members have included the likes of Frank Ocean and Tyler The Creator.
At just 14, Veggies’ talent became apparent when he released his first mixtape Customized Greatly Vol 1. He appeared on The Odd Future tape which was recorded on a modest webcam microphone. Once Veggies took the plunge to go solo, he began to take rapping more seriously and has highlighted how strategic and organic partnerships, social presence and influence ability were fundamental to Peas & Carats’ success.
In 2011, Veggies’ performed alongside Mac Miller during his Blue Slide Park Tour, as one of the opening acts. Since then, his career rocketed and he has joined Kendrick Lamar, Nipsey Hussle and global sensation Rita Ora on stage. Veggies also appeared on MTV’s RapFixLive twice in 2012; alongside Wiz Khalifa and reunited with the late Mac Miller. The following year he signed a record deal with VIC and Epic Records and has experienced continued success; releasing a mixtape under Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group to widespread acclaim and commercial success.
