Jonatha Brooke

Jonatha Brooke is a folk rock singer-songwriter and guitarist known for her poignant lyrics and complex harmonies, recognized for her independent approach to music and her contributions to film and television soundtracks. After establishing herself as a compelling vocalist and songwriter with the duo The Story, Jonatha Brooke went on to launch a successful solo career defined by critical acclaim and an independent spirit. Brooke began her professional music career in the 1980s as one half of the folk-pop duo The Story, alongside Jennifer Kimball. The duo signed with Green Linnet, releasing their debut album Grace in Gravity in 1991, which was subsequently re-released by Elektra Records.

In 2019, Brooke released the EP Imposter, a project that garnered significant industry recognition, earning her the Overall Grand Prize and Best Female Artist awards at the 15th Annual International Acoustic Music Awards (IAMA) that same year. Imposter continued its acclaim into 2020, where it was awarded an Independent Music Award (IMA). Maintaining her prolific output, Brooke released The Sweetwater Sessions in 2020.
