Christopher Troy Sebastian was born on August 2, 1988. He began his music career by moving from Adelaide, South Australia, to Melbourne in 2008, where he worked as a singing teacher and producer. In July 2011, he released his debut single titled “Flow.” Sebastian first gained significant public attention in 2012 when he participated in the first season of ‘The Voice Australia’ as part of Team Seal. During this initial run, he reached the quarter-finals before being eliminated.
Following his first appearance on ‘The Voice Australia’, Sebastian continued to develop his independent career. In 2016, he toured with the American vocal group Pentatonix and subsequently released his debut EP, ‘Runaway’, which he described as moving towards a more acoustic sound. His second EP, ‘This Christmas’, was released in 2018. In 2020, Sebastian made a return to ‘The Voice Australia’ for its ninth season, joining Kelly Rowland’s team. This time, he won the title in July 2020, receiving a prize of $100,000 and a recording contract with EMI Music. His win in 2020 was a significant moment in his career, leading to public discussion due to his brother, Guy Sebastian, being a judge on the show.
Since his win, Chris Sebastian has continued to release music, including singles like “Bed for Two” in 2020, followed by “Hard to Get to Love” and “Wasted On Me” in 2021. His musical journey reflects a consistent dedication to his craft, marked by distinct phases of development and notable achievements in competitive singing platforms and independent releases. He presently resides in Sydney with his wife, Natashia Sebastian, and their child, Ava.
