Chromeo is a Canadian electro-funk duo from Montreal, which was formed in 2002 by the talented musicians David “Dave 1” Macklovitch and Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel. Since their inception, the duo has been known for their unique sound, which draws from a range of genres, including soul music, dance music, rock, synth-pop, disco and funk.
David “Dave 1” Macklovitch is a guitarist and vocalist who was born in Montreal in 1978. He was educated at Columbia University where he earned a Ph.D. in French Literature. Patrick “P-Thugg” Gemayel, on the other hand, is a keyboardist and drummer, born in Lebanon in 1979, who grew up in Montreal. He met Macklovitch while the duo was in high school and they formed a friendship that would later blossom into a successful musical partnership.
The duo’s debut album, “She’s in Control,” was released in 2004 to critical acclaim. Following the success of their debut album, they continued to release a string of hit songs, including “Fancy Footwork,” “Juice,” and “Don’t Turn The Lights On.” Their music has been featured in a range of films, television shows, and advertisements, and they have collaborated with some of the most popular names in music, including Daryl Hall, Solange, and The-Dream.
