Coco & Clair Clair, comprised of Taylor Nave and Claire Toothill, originated in late 2013 from suburban Atlanta, Georgia. Their collaboration began on Twitter, leading them to release music professionally. Their debut mixtape, “Posh,” was released in May 2017. Following this, the single “Pretty” gained considerable attention, later finding success on TikTok.

Between 2020 and 2021, the duo released several singles, including “Pop Star” in December 2020 and “TBTF” in September 2021. In February 2022, they were featured on Lewis OfMan’s “Misbehave,” a track from his album “Sonic Poems.” Their debut studio album, “Sexy,” was released in November 2022 and received positive reviews, including a 7.4 rating from Pitchfork. The album’s deluxe edition, released in 2023, featured remixes by various artists including Empress Of, Chaeyoung of Twice, and George Daniel of The 1975. They also released a cover of Wham!’s “Last Christmas” in 2023. Their second album, “Girl,” was released in August 2024.

The duo’s career progression has involved navigating remote collaboration, with Toothill moving to New York City briefly before returning to Atlanta during the COVID-19 pandemic. This period, coinciding with Nave’s college graduation, allowed them to fully dedicate themselves to music. Their music has been described as a hypnotic take on Soundcloud rap and bedroom pop, with brazen pop rap reminiscent of early 2000s aesthetics. Their track “Wishy Washy” was featured in the fourth season of “Atlanta” in October 2022, demonstrating their increasing mainstream presence.
