The incredible Floyd Elliot Wray is better known in the Country music scene as Collin Raye, the multi-Platinum recording artist who has 5 certified Platinum albums, 24 Top 10 hits, and 15 No.1 hits to his name. He was also known as Bubba Wray when he recorded as a member of the band The Wrays between 1983 and 1987. He has released 13 studio albums over his illustrious career, the most recent of which was 2020’s Scars, as well as eight compilation albums, two holiday albums, a children’s music album, and a live album. In 2014 his autobiography, A Voice Undefeated, was published.
Born and raised in Arkansas, Collin grew up with a musical mother who, during the 1950s served as an opening act for artists such as Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Johnny Cash. Collin and his brother Scott would often go onstage with their mother to sing harmony vocals. By the 1980s the two siblings began The Wray Brothers Band in which Collin adopted the name Bubba Wray. They performed locally, released a number of singles independently, and by 1986 had shortened their name to The Wrays, and signed with Mercury Records. Things didn’t work out though and they disbanded with Collin launching his solo career. He changed the spelling of his surname to Raye and signed with Epic Records in 1990. His debut single, All I Can Be, reached No.29 in the Hot Country Singles charts in 1991, then after his debut album of the same name was released, the second single, Love, Me, reached No.1 in 1992. Since then he has overseen a marvellous career in the Country music scene both on stage and in the recording studio.
Raye regularly connects with his hundreds of thousands of followers and fans through Facebook, and Twitter, posting pictures and comments about his musical life. He also has an official website, collinraye.com.
