David Garrett

Signed as Deutsche Grammophon’s youngest-ever soloist at just thirteen, David Garrett rapidly distinguished himself as a classical and crossover violinist. His early career milestones included winning first prize in a violin competition at an early age, debuting at the prestigious Festival Kissinger Sommer at nine, and receiving his first Stradivarius violin from German president Richard von Weizsäcker after a performance at eleven. At twelve, Garrett began intensive studies with renowned Polish violinist Ida Haendel. Following his landmark contract with Deutsche Grammophon, which also brought the use of the famous Stradivarius ‘San Lorenzo,’ Garrett performed with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra under Zubin Mehta in April 1997 for India’s 50th Independence anniversary.

His crossover success continued with albums such as Rock Symphonies in 2010, further solidifying his unique artistic direction and expanding his global fan base. In 2013, Garrett took on the lead role of Niccolò Paganini in the film The Devil’s Violinist, showcasing his talents beyond the concert stage. He continued his prolific recording career with acclaimed albums, including Explosive, released in 2015, and Rock Revolution in 2017. His contributions to music were further recognized when he received the Frankfurter Musikpreis in 2017.

These projects demonstrated his continued dedication to innovating within the classical and crossover spheres, earning critical praise and commercial success. Most recently, Garrett has continued to make high-profile appearances, performing the UEFA Europa League Anthem in 2020. That same year, he delivered a memorable rendition of the German national anthem at the Formula 1 2020 Eifel Grand Prix, reaching a vast international audience. David Garrett remains a leading figure in the music world, consistently bridging the gap between classical artistry and contemporary appeal, and demonstrating his versatility and enduring talent across various platforms.
