Denyce Graves is a celebrated American mezzo-soprano opera singer, recognized globally for her powerful and emotive performances. She began her professional journey after graduating from the Duke Ellington School of the Arts and further honing her craft at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and the New England Conservatory. Graves gained invaluable experience at the Wolf Trap Opera Company and the Houston Opera Studio, where she studied under renowned mentors. Her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1995 marked a significant milestone, showcasing her signature roles in Carmen and Samson et Dalila, which have become synonymous with her name.
Throughout her illustrious career, Graves has graced the stages of prestigious opera houses worldwide, including the Vienna Staatsoper, Royal Opera at Covent Garden, and the Opéra National de Paris.
