Descemer Bueno is an internationally renowned Cuban vocalist, bassist, composer and record producer. This exceptionally talented artist is an accomplished performer and songwriter, composing and producing his own music in addition to writing Grammy-award winning songs (“Bailando”) for high-profile artists such as Enrique Iglesias.
Bueno was born in Cuba. He absorbed the musical culture throughout his upbringing, eventually forming the jazz combo Estado de Animo with Elmer Ferrer and Roberto Carcasés. The group found success in the 90s, touring Europe and America. Following this, Bueno made a move to the U.S. and co-founded legendary Latin hip-hop outfit Yerba Buena, writing the bulk of their debut album “President Alien”, an exciting fusion of Cuban sounds and American hip-hop that appealed equally to both cultures. Bueno then returned to Cuba, working as a producer, arranger and composer on a who’s-who of Cuban pop hits, writing for Haydée Milanés, William Vivanco, Yusa and Diana Fuentes, in addition to scoring the film “Havana Blues”, an achievement that won him Spain’s Goya Award for Best Original Music in 2006.
Bueno signed with Universal Latin to record his first solo album “Siete Rayo”, a progressive fusion of reggaeton and hip-hop that featured contributions from George Pajon of the Black Eyed Peas. His second solo album “Bueno”, released in 2012, featured duets with an array of contemporary Cuban musical stars, including Kelvis Ochoa, Gema Corredera, Haila, X Alfonso, Baby Lores, and Alain Daniel. Since then, Bueno has worked with Latin superstar Enrique Iglesias on several albums, most notably penning the worldwide hit “Bailando”, earning himself a Latin Grammy for Song Of The Year in the process. The song has seen unbelievable popularity, with an incredible 2.5 billion views on YouTube. Their most recent collaboration is “Nos Fuimos Lejos”, a new single featuring El Micha, released in April 2018. Bueno is currently working on a new solo record and continues to compose and produce for both Cuban and American artists, while performing to audiences across the globe.
