Dirty Loops

Dirty Loops originated from Stockholm, Sweden, formed by Jonah Nilsson (keyboards and lead vocals), Henrik Linder (bass and backing vocals), and Aron Mellergård (drums and backing vocals). The members initially met while studying music at Södra Latin, and later attended the Royal College of Music in Stockholm. Nilsson studied classical theory, while Linder and Mellergård focused on jazz. Linder began playing piano at age four and bass at age 13, influenced by artists with complex musical structures. Nilsson started singing as a child and began piano lessons at age 11. Mellergård was inspired to play drums within his musical family.

The band officially formed in 2008, releasing their first song in 2010. Their unique musical approach, blending jazz fusion with pop, quickly gained attention. In February 2011, Dirty Loops signed a management contract with producer and songwriter Andreas Carlsson. Carlsson played a significant role in developing the band’s public image and securing a global record deal. This led to their travel to the U.S. in 2012, where they met various music professionals. Subsequently, they signed a record contract with producer David Foster and Universal Music subsidiary Verve. Their debut album, “Loopified,” was released in 2014, marking a significant milestone in their career.

After a period of hiatus following their debut, Dirty Loops indicated a return in 2018, hinting at a second album. The album “Phoenix” was released shortly after. In 2021, they collaborated with Cory Wong on the album “Turbo,” featuring singles like “Follow the Light” and “Ring of Saturn.” The band has also toured internationally, including supporting David Foster and Andreas Carlsson on their “David Foster & Friends Tour” in various Asian countries in late 2012. They also served as an opening act for Maroon 5 during the Asia and Oceania legs of the “Maroon V Tour” in 2015, performing in major cities like Osaka, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Sydney.
