Gabriella Michelle Henderson, known professionally as Ella Henderson, was born on January 12, 1996, in Lincolnshire, England. Her musical journey began at age three, and she later taught herself piano. Encouraged by her paternal grandfather, she developed an interest in music and songwriting, leading her to audition for a scholarship at Tring Park School for the Performing Arts. In 2011, she made an early television appearance on the Channel 4 series, ‘Come Dine with Me,’ where she performed ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You.’
Henderson rose to prominence in 2012 after competing in the ninth series of ‘The X Factor UK,’ where she finished in sixth place. Despite her surprising early exit, she received widespread support from celebrities and industry figures. Following her time on ‘The X Factor,’ she signed a record deal with Syco Music, the label founded by Simon Cowell. This led to the release of her debut studio album, ‘Chapter One,’ in 2014, which achieved number one status in the UK. The album featured the successful single ‘Ghost,’ which topped the UK Singles Chart and achieved platinum certifications in multiple countries.
Throughout her career, Henderson has consistently released successful solo material and engaged in notable collaborations. After a four-year hiatus, she released her second studio album, ‘Everything I Didn’t Say,’ in 2022, which also reached the top 10 in the UK. Her collaborations include UK top 10 singles such as ‘Glitterball’ with Sigma, ‘This Is Real’ with Jax Jones, ‘Let’s Go Home Together’ with Tom Grennan, ‘Crazy What Love Can Do’ with David Guetta and Becky Hill, ’21 Reasons’ with Nathan Dawe, ‘React’ with Switch Disco, ‘0800 Heaven’ with Dawe and Joel Corry, and ‘Alibi’ with Rudimental. She has been recognized with a Brit Billion Award and has received nominations for four Brit Awards and an Ivor Novello Award.
