Este Haim

Este Arielle Haim, born on March 14, 1986, in Los Angeles, California, is an American musician recognized for her foundational role in the band Haim. Alongside her younger sisters Alana and Danielle, she co-founded the pop-rock trio in 2006, contributing as the bassist, vocalist, and co-writer for all of the band’s songs. Her early life in the San Fernando Valley included studies at LA County’s High School For The Arts and later a degree in ethnomusicology from the University of California, Los Angeles. These educational experiences, coupled with a family environment that fostered musical development, laid the groundwork for her diverse career.

In addition to her work with Haim, Este has expanded her creative endeavors into film and television scoring and music consulting since 2021. She composed scores for projects such as the Netflix limited series “Maid” (2021) and the film “Cha Cha Real Smooth” (2022), often collaborating with other artists like Christopher Stracey. Her involvement extended to serving as a music consultant for the second season of HBO’s “The White Lotus” (2022) and as an executive music producer for the National Geographic mini-series “A Small Light” (2023), where she curated a soundtrack of period-appropriate cover versions. Este has also made appearances in films, including “Licorice Pizza” (2021), demonstrating her versatility in the entertainment industry.

Throughout her career, Este Haim has been candid about navigating personal health challenges while maintaining a demanding professional life. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age fourteen and later with stage 3 kidney disease in 2018, she has openly discussed the complexities of managing her health, particularly as a touring musician. Her experiences have provided her with a platform to speak on topics of resilience and managing chronic conditions. Her commitment to her craft is evident in her ongoing work, which includes upcoming projects as both an actress and composer.
