United Kingdom Foals is a British rock band known for its intricate sound that combines elements of indie rock, math rock, and dance-punk, delivering critically acclaimed albums and captivating live performances.
Warner Music-signed band Foals partnered with GoPro to film the video for their track "Mountain at My Gates" using a GoPro HERO, creating an interactive virtual reality experience.
Foals collaborated with Hans Zimmer's Bleeding Fingers composing collective, led by the film composer, to rework their song "Neptune" as the opening theme for the BBC Two science documentary series "Universe."
Foals are currently signed to Warner Records, working with them for their album releases and various projects.

Foals formed in Oxford, England, in 2005. The initial lineup included Yannis Philippakis (guitar, vocals), Jack Bevan (drums), Andrew Mears (vocals), Jimmy Smith (guitar), and Walter Gervers (bass). The band developed its distinct sound, which protested against the prevailing progressive music scene in their hometown, by performing at local house parties. After Mears’ departure to focus on his band Youthmovies, Philippakis assumed lead vocal duties, and Edwin Congreave joined on keyboards, completing the core quintet. They secured a deal with Transgressive Records and began to gain recognition, releasing early singles like “Hummer” and “Mathletics” in 2007.
The band’s debut album, “Antidotes,” was released in March 2008 in the UK, reaching number three on the UK Albums Chart. They followed this with “Total Life Forever” in 2010, which earned a Mercury Prize nomination. Their third album, “Holy Fire,” released in 2013, was produced by Flood and Alan Moulder and was nominated for the Mercury Prize the same year. It also marked their first album to chart outside of Western Europe. “What Went Down” followed in 2015, continuing their success. In 2018, founding bassist Walter Gervers departed, though he later rejoined the band in 2023. The band released two albums in 2019, “Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1” and “Part 2,” with the latter becoming their first album to top the UK Albums Chart. Edwin Congreave departed in 2021 to pursue further education.
Foals released their seventh studio album, “Life Is Yours,” in 2022. The album received positive reviews and debuted at number three in the UK. Over their career, Foals have toured extensively, headlining major festivals such as Glastonbury, Coachella, and Roskilde. They have received multiple awards, including Best Live Act at the 2013 Q Awards and Best Group at the 2020 Brit Awards. Their music has been featured in various media, including TV shows like “Skins” and “Entourage,” and video games such as “FIFA 16” and “Life is Strange.”
