Frances Forever

Frances Elizabeth Garrett, born on June 17, 1999, grew up outside of Baltimore and began playing piano at age six. Their early musical endeavors as a teenager led them to pursue music professionally after attending a summer intensive at Berklee College of Music. Adopting the stage name Frances Forever as a nod to their first name and Mitski’s song “Francis Forever,” they independently released their debut EP, “Pockets,” in 2018. This EP featured songs written on single instruments, serving as musical “pockets” reflecting various aspects of Garrett’s life experiences.

Their career saw a significant turning point with the release of the single “Space Girl” on March 27, 2020. This track gained viral popularity on TikTok, accumulating over 10 million streams across various platforms. The song’s success led to its debut at number 23 on the Billboard Hot Alternative Songs chart in December 2020. This period of rapid growth culminated in Frances Forever signing with Mom + Pop Music on December 16, 2020, solidifying their position within the music industry. In 2021, a remix of “Space Girl” featuring Chloe Moriondo further expanded its reach, followed by the release of their second EP, “Paranoia Party,” on July 9, 2021.

Garrett earned a degree in music and music technology from Clark University in 2021, balancing their academic pursuits with their rising music career. Their artistry is characterized by witty lyricism and intimate storytelling, blending indie rock, bedroom pop, and alternative influences. On June 28, 2024, Frances Forever released their debut album, “Lockjaw.” Throughout their career, they have performed at events such as WBUR’s CityScape and have been recognized for their thoughtful songwriting by outlets like American Songwriter, who noted their ability to add a lighter tone to new music.
