About

Paul Scott Levy, known professionally as General Levy, was born on April 28, 1971, in Park Royal, London. Of Trinidadian descent, his musical journey began in Harlesden and Wembley. He developed his early musical influences by collecting dancehall tapes starting in 1981. At the age of 12, Levy began writing lyrics, and by 14, he had formed his first sound system with friends, called Third Dimension. His early releases were on the independent record label Fashion Records, which later secured a distribution deal with London Records. These initial tracks gained significant traction within the underground dancehall scene, establishing his presence in the music community.

Levy is widely known for his 1994 collaboration with M-Beat on the track “Incredible.” A remixed version of this song reached number eight on the UK Singles Chart in the same year. This track was later featured in the film “Ali G Indahouse” and used in a Honda TV advertising campaign, significantly broadening his audience. Despite an initial controversy in 1994 regarding comments made about his role in the jungle scene, General Levy has since been recognized as one of the 25 UK MCs who “changed the game.” His career has spanned over three decades, contributing to the drum and bass, jungle, and ragga music scenes.

In 2022, General Levy further cemented his legacy by self-publishing his autobiography, “Incredible General Levy.” This book chronicles his career, detailing his early experiences working on local sound systems and pirate radio stations in northwest London. It covers his journey from a local MC to achieving national and international success in the music industry, highlighting his resilience, passion for deejaying, and enduring commitment. Throughout his career, he has toured globally, performing at various festivals and venues with prominent artists in the drum and bass and jungle genres, maintaining a dedicated fanbase and a respected position within the music industry.
