Generationals is an acclaimed American indie pop duo formed in New Orleans, Louisiana, by Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer. The duo embarked on their musical journey with the release of their debut album, Con Law, in July 2009 under the Park the Van label. This album showcased their unique sound, blending influences from the British Invasion, Stax soul, and contemporary indie rock. Critics praised the album, with Allmusic highlighting its nostalgic yet fresh appeal, and T: The New York Times Style Magazine calling it a “delectable debut.”
Following their successful debut, Generationals continued to build their reputation with the release of an extended play titled Trust in November 2010. Their song “When They Fight, They Fight” gained widespread exposure, being featured in various media, including a Bloomingdales holiday commercial and the Farrelly brothers’ film Hall Pass.
In March 2011, the duo released their second full-length album, Actor-Caster, which continued to showcase their evolving sound and songwriting prowess. This album further established them as a prominent act in the indie pop genre. Their third album, Heza, released in April 2013, marked their debut with Polyvinyl Records and received positive acclaim for its innovative approach and catchy melodies.
