Hopsin

Hopsin is a rapper, songwriter, and record producer recognized for his distinct visual style and lyricism, with a career spanning from independent label success to collaborations with major entertainment companies. After demonstrating a compelling independent spirit with his self-produced debut project, ‘Emurge,’ released locally in 2003, Hopsin quickly established himself as a multifaceted artist, solidifying his presence in the hip-hop scene and earning a spot on XXL’s coveted ‘Top 10 Freshmen list’ in 2012. His early career saw him sign with Ruthless Records in 2007, leading to the release of his debut studio album, ‘Gazing at the Moonlight,’ in 2009. Following a departure due to promotional issues, Hopsin co-founded his independent label, Funk Volume, with Damien Ritter in the same year.

Through this venture, and in collaboration with 300 Entertainment, he released his fifth album, ‘No Shame,’ in 2017, which debuted at number 42 on the US Billboard 200 chart. Throughout his prolific career, Hopsin has maintained a consistent output of music videos, often directing them himself, including the popular ‘Ill Mind of Hopsin’ series, which has garnered millions of views across its installments. Beyond music, Hopsin has cultivated a diverse acting portfolio. His early exposure to entertainment included a role in ‘Max Keeble’s Big Move’ (2001) and appearances in films such as ‘Fame’ (2009) and ‘Bomb The World’ (2010).

More recently, he appeared as Gabriel in the TV series ‘Paradise City’ in 2021, showcasing his continued presence in visual media. Demonstrating his ongoing commitment to independent artistry and entrepreneurship, Hopsin joined the board of directors for Artist Republik in 2020. His unwavering dedication to self-sufficiency and creative control continues to define his career, allowing him to consistently deliver authentic and impactful content across music and visual platforms.
