Iceage, a band formed in Copenhagen, Denmark, has evolved from its punk roots to create a diverse musical catalog, marked by consistent album releases and critical recognition. After forming in Copenhagen in 2008, Iceage quickly established their distinctive sound with their debut 7′ release on Escho in 2009. The band, comprising Elias Bender Rønnenfelt (vocals/guitar), Johan Surrballe Wieth (guitar/backing vocals), Jakob Tvilling Pless (bass), and Dan Kjær Nielsen (drums), expanded their label partnerships to include Tambourhinoceros in Denmark and Dais Records in the United States, with What’s Your Rupture? Records facilitating their international distribution.
Their debut album, ‘New Brigade,’ released in January 2011 in Denmark and June 2011 in the U.S., marked their significant entry into the international music scene with a sound rooted in post-punk, art punk, noise rock, and post-hardcore influences. Iceage continued their prolific output after signing with independent record label Matador Records in 2012. This partnership led to their critically acclaimed second studio album, ‘You’re Nothing,’ released in February 2013, which garnered positive reviews including a four-star rating from Allmusic. The band further evolved their sound with their third studio album, ‘Plowing Into the Field of Love,’ released in October 2014, also through Matador.
Iceage continues to tour and perform, captivating audiences worldwide with their powerful live shows and diverse musical catalog.
