Jeleel

Abdul Jeleel Yussuf, known professionally as Jeleel, was born on October 14, 1995, in Providence, Rhode Island, and raised in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Of Nigerian descent and Muslim, he attended La Salle Academy in Providence before graduating from Loyola University Maryland. While still in university, Jeleel released his first song, “Play Me,” though it has since been removed from platforms.

Jeleel’s career progressed with the release of his project “Angel From Heaven” in 2019, followed by the extended play “Generation Z” in 2020. A significant turning point came in 2021 with his song “Dive In!,” which gained substantial traction on TikTok and other social media, accumulating over 50 million streams on Spotify. This success led to a partnership with the record label 10K Projects. In April 2022, he released the single “Rain On You!” and collaborated with rapper Mike Dimes on “Clubhouse!” in June 2022. He continued to release singles such as “Uncivilized! (Go!)” in July 2022 and “Stone Cold!” in August 2022. In September 2022, Jeleel performed at the Made in America Festival and released “Deliver!”. In January 2023, he released “Ride The Wave!,” with a music video filmed in Nigeria, leading up to the release of his debut studio album, “Real Raw!,” on May 5, 2023.

Jeleel’s musical style has been described as a blend of rap, punk, and R&B, characterized by an energetic vocal delivery, rock-inspired production, and catchy hooks. His explosive social media presence and dynamic persona have contributed to his growing audience, showcasing his electronic take on hip-hop. His work continues to draw attention for its blend of various genres and its impactful sound.
