Ben Goldsmith, a singer-songwriter from Long Island, New York, developed an early passion for music. Introduced to violin at a young age, he quickly transitioned to guitar, drawing inspiration from artists such as Aerosmith and Elton John. By age 11, Goldsmith had already released an EP of original music, performing all instruments himself. His early talent was further honed through jazz guitar studies at the Manhattan School of Music and the Mannes School of Music. He also received mentorship from Berklee Professor Tomo Fujita, whose previous students include John Mayer, a significant influence on Goldsmith’s guitar style and tone.
His career saw significant development during the 2020 lockdown, when he focused on production and songwriting. This period led him to collaborate with Nashville producer Brad Jones, who guided Goldsmith in the recording world and encouraged his songwriting collaborations. A turning point occurred in the summer of 2021 when a performance at Whiskey Jam in Nashville led to multiple record label approaches. At 16, Goldsmith signed with Sony Music Nashville and Universal Music Publishing as an artist/songwriter, also securing representation with United Talent Agency. He became the flagship artist for Sony Nashville’s non-country imprint, Free Flight Records, which emphasizes pop and singer-songwriter genres.
Following high school graduation, Goldsmith chose to defer admission to NYU’s Clive Davis program to move to Nashville and focus on his burgeoning music career. This led to a slot on the 2023 Bonnaroo lineup, where he performed alongside artists like Paramore and Foo Fighters. In 2022, he released the single “One Day Believer,” followed by his debut full-length album, “The World Between My Ears,” in September 2023. He continued his festival appearances, performing at the Extra Innings Festival in Tempe, Arizona, in 2024. His sophomore album, “The Start Of Something Beautiful,” released on September 13, 2024, features collaborations with producers such as Rick Nowels and Alex Hope. Goldsmith has also been recognized by The Hollywood Reporter as an emerging artist under 18 and has engaged in innovative projects such as integrating his music into the online game Roblox and participating in live recording sessions with Sony Electronics.
