Jenny Don’t and the Spurs, an American country western band based in Portland, Oregon, was formed in the winter of 2012 by Jenny Don’t and Kelly Halliburton. Both members brought their extensive touring experience from previous bands, with Jenny from Don’t and Kelly from Pierced Arrows. Initially a project focused on covering classic country artists, the band quickly evolved into a unique blend of honky tonk, garage rock, and cowpunk, showcasing their versatility and creativity. Their debut performance at Portland’s Ash Street Saloon marked the beginning of a promising journey in the music scene.
In early 2013, the band recorded their first release, a nine-song CDr, and began to invite fellow Portland musicians to contribute to their live performances. This collaborative spirit led to the addition of Sam Henry, a renowned drummer known for his work with the Wipers, who joined the duo to form a trio. By mid-2014, they recorded their first album at Red Lantern Studios, which was released in 2015 under their label, Doomtown Sounds. The album featured contributions from various artists, including a duet with Jerry “A” Lang, further solidifying their presence in the music community.
The band embarked on extensive tours following the release of their albums, including their second album, “Call of the Road,” in 2017. They toured across California and Europe, gaining recognition for their energetic performances. Despite facing challenges, including the loss of drummer Sam Henry in early 2022, the band persevered and welcomed new drummer Buddy Weeks, continuing to tour and perform.
In 2023, Jenny Don’t and the Spurs were honored as the outlaw band of the year at the Ameripolitan Music Awards. They performed over 150 concerts across multiple continents and released their fourth album, “Broken Hearted Blue,” in June 2023. With a commitment to their craft and a growing fanbase, the band continues to thrive, showcasing their dynamic sound and dedication to the country western genre.
