Jim Messina

Jim Messina is an American musician, songwriter, and producer known for his contributions to Buffalo Springfield, Poco, and Loggins and Messina, continuing to tour and lead songwriting workshops. After recording ‘The Dragsters’ with His Jesters in November 1964, featuring his lead guitar work on ‘The Jester,’ Jim Messina embarked on a prolific career as a musician, songwriter, and producer. He quickly progressed into a pivotal role as recording engineer and producer for Buffalo Springfield in the late 1960s, notably stepping in as bassist for two tracks on their final album, ‘Last Time Around.’ Following Buffalo Springfield’s dissolution, Messina co-founded the influential country-rock band Poco in 1968 alongside Richie Furay. During his tenure with Poco, he contributed lead guitar, vocals, and songwriting across two studio albums and one live album, including their debut ‘Pickin’ Up the Pieces’ released in 1969.

He actively tours with his band, The Road Runners, consistently performing for dedicated fans. Looking ahead, Messina is set to release his new album, ‘Here, There and Everywhere,’ in 2025. Beyond his performance schedule, he is deeply committed to nurturing new talent through ‘The Songwriters’ Performance Workshop,’ sharing his extensive industry experience and insights.
