CMAT launched onto the international music scene with her debut studio album, ‘If My Wife New I’d Be Dead,’ released in February 2022. The album quickly garnered widespread acclaim, earning a Metacritic score of 85 and described by Hot Press magazine as ‘undoubtedly one of the most thrilling Irish pop debuts of the century.’ It debuted at number one on the Irish Albums Chart in March 2022, culminating in a prestigious win for the Choice Music Prize for Irish Album of the Year in March 2023. During this period, CMAT also released the single ‘Peter Bogdanovich’ in June 2022, which charted at number 20 on the Irish Homegrown Top 20 by August 2022. Earlier in her career, CMAT had cultivated a unique artistic voice through self-released music online, gaining significant attention and radio play from RTÉ Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6 Music.

Her commitment to social issues is also notable; in May 2024, she notably withdrew from Latitude Festival due to its sponsorship by Barclays, citing the company’s financial involvement in the Gaza conflict, and later made a statement in support of Palestinians at Glastonbury. CMAT is highly regarded for her strong fanbase within the LGBTQ+ community, further enhancing her profile as an artist with both critical acclaim and significant cultural impact.
