Lexie Liu, born Liu Yuyu on December 21, 1998, in Changsha, Hunan, China, developed an early interest in music, beginning dance at age four and piano at six. Her early career included participating in the South Korean reality TV competition series “K-pop Star 5” in 2015, where her four-person girl group, Mazinga S, achieved fourth place. She initially attended Fordham University to study global business but deferred to pursue her music career. In January 2017, Liu released her debut original single, “Coco Made Me Do It,” which garnered over 5 million views. Later that year, she performed at the SXSW music festival, presenting Chinese Pop music to an international audience.
Liu achieved further recognition in July 2018 by competing in “The Rap of China,” ultimately securing fourth place with her song “Mulan.” During her participation, she signed with the American record label 88rising. Her debut EP, “2030,” was released in February 2019 in the United States, followed by the album “Meta Ego” in December 2019. In October 2020, Liu voiced the character Seraphine in the K/DA song “More” and performed at the 2020 League of Legends World Championship in Shanghai. Her subsequent EPs include “Gone Gold” (2021) and the album “The Happy Star” (2022).
Throughout her career, Lexie Liu has also engaged in diverse collaborations and projects. In November 2023, she released the single “delulu,” followed by “On Clap” in April 2024 as a feature on Yuqi’s EP “Yuq1.” She continued to release music in 2025 with singles “Pop Girl” and “FFFFF,” and the EP “Teenage Ramble.” Her touring activities include “The Happy Star Company Tour” from 2024 to 2025 across multiple Chinese cities. Liu’s distinct visual style has also led to her involvement with the fashion industry, including roles at Paris Fashion Week.
