John Stamos is an acclaimed actor and musician, recognized for his extensive career in television, film, and theater, and for his enduring musical collaborations.
John Stamos joined Zeam, a new streaming service for local TV broadcasters, as its Chief Innovation Officer and brand ambassador. In this role, he guides the development of new content partnerships and promotes the service, following an initial partnership for its Super Bowl campaign.
John Stamos has had a four-decade partnership with the legendary band The Beach Boys, occasionally performing as a drummer and musician in their concerts and tours since 1985. He has appeared in their music videos and joined them for various special performances, celebrating his 40th anniversary performing with the band.
Since 2011, John Stamos has appeared in a series of commercials for Dannon's Greek yogurt brand Oikos, including a Super Bowl commercial aired during Super Bowl 2012.
Since 2005, John Stamos has served as the national spokesperson for Project Cuddle, a child-oriented charity focused on finding homes for abandoned babies.
On May 19, 2018, John Stamos and Caitlin McHugh announced their new jewelry line, "St. Amos Jewelry," with 100% of the proceeds going to the Childhelp foundation, which works to prevent and treat child abuse.
John Phillip Stamos was born on August 19, 1963, in Cypress, California. His father, William Stamos, was a restaurateur of Greek descent, and his mother, Loretta Phillips, was a model. Stamos has two younger sisters, Janeen and Alaina. Early in his life, he worked in his father’s restaurants and, as a teenager, took a job flipping burgers. He attended John F. Kennedy High School and participated in the marching band. At 15, he attended his first Beach Boys concert, an experience that cultivated a lifelong connection with the band. With his parents’ encouragement, Stamos deferred enrollment at Cypress College to pursue acting. Within three weeks, he secured his first professional role.
Stamos’s acting career began in 1982, when he joined the daytime soap opera *General Hospital* as Blackie Parrish. This role earned him two Soap Opera Digest Awards in 1982 and 1983. In 1987, he gained widespread recognition for his role as Jesse Katsopolis on the sitcom *Full House*, a character he portrayed for eight years. Stamos requested his character’s surname be changed to Katsopolis to honor his Greek heritage. During this period, he also began performing with The Beach Boys, a collaboration that started in 1985 and continues to the present day. He directed their “Hot Fun in the Summertime” video and, in 1995, debuted on Broadway as J. Pierrepont Finch in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying!”, showcasing his musical and dancing abilities.
Following *Full House*, Stamos continued to work in television, appearing in series such as *Thieves* (2001) and *Jake in Progress* (2005), and had a recurring role as Dr. Tony Gates on the NBC medical drama *ER* from 2005 to 2009. He returned to Broadway multiple times, including roles in “Cabaret” and “Bye Bye Birdie.” From 2015 to 2016, he starred as the lead in the Fox sitcom *Grandfathered*. Stamos reprised his role as Jesse Katsopolis in the Netflix sequel series *Fuller House* (2016–2020), also serving as an executive producer. He has also played Marvyn Korn in the Disney+ series *Big Shot* (2021–2022) and has voiced characters in animated series like *Spidey and His Amazing Friends*.
