Kate Bush is an influential English singer, songwriter, dancer, and record producer known for her experimental musical style and impact on popular culture. After releasing her debut single ‘Wuthering Heights’ in 1978, Kate Bush made history by becoming the first female artist to achieve a UK number one with a fully self-written song, which also topped the Australian charts. Her debut album, ‘The Kick Inside,’ released the same year, reached number three on the UK Albums Chart, and was followed quickly by ‘Lionheart,’ which included the hit ‘Wow.’ To maintain creative control over her burgeoning career, Bush established her own publishing and management companies, Kate Bush Music and Novercia, which allowed her to independently explore innovative soundscapes. Her early success was further cemented when her single ‘The Man with the Child in His Eyes’ made it onto the US Billboard Hot 100 and earned an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding British Lyric in 1979.
Solidifying her legacy, Bush was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. Looking ahead, she was announced as an ambassador for Record Store Day UK in 2024, the same year she released a short animated film, ‘Little Shrew’, in support of War Child, and received two nominations at the 67th Grammy Awards.
