Keane is an acclaimed English alternative rock band formed in 1995 in Battle, East Sussex. The band consists of Tom Chaplin (lead vocals, guitar, piano), Tim Rice-Oxley (keyboards, synthesisers, bass guitar, backing vocals), Richard Hughes (drums, percussion, backing vocals), and Jesse Quin (bass guitar, guitar, backing vocals). They gained international recognition with their debut album, “Hopes and Fears,” released in 2004, which topped the UK charts and won the Brit Award for Best British Album, solidifying their place in music history.
Following their successful debut, Keane released their second album, “Under the Iron Sea,” in 2006, which also reached number one in the UK and debuted at number four on the US Billboard 200. Their third album, “Perfect Symmetry,” released in 2008, showcased their evolution as artists, incorporating a more diverse sound while maintaining their signature piano-driven style. The band continued to thrive with the release of their fourth studio album, “Strangeland,” in 2012, which peaked at number one in the UK, further demonstrating their enduring appeal.
After a hiatus, Keane made a triumphant return in 2019 with their fifth studio album, “Cause and Effect,” featuring the lead single “The Way I Feel.” This album marked a new chapter in their career, reflecting personal experiences and showcasing their growth as musicians. The subsequent “Cause and Effect Tour” allowed them to reconnect with fans across Europe and Latin America.
In 2021, Keane released the “Dirt EP,” featuring unreleased tracks from the “Cause and Effect” sessions, and announced a tour to celebrate the 20th anniversary of “Hopes and Fears” in 2024. With over 13 million records sold worldwide, Keane continues to captivate audiences with their emotive music and powerful performances.
