Jurassic 5

Jurassic 5 is an American alternative hip-hop group that was formed in 1993 in Los Angeles, California. The group originated from the merging of two earlier groups: U.N.I.T.Y (United Nations of Intelligence Teaching Youth) Committee and Rebels of Rhythm. The members include Charles Stewart (Chali 2na), Dante Givens (Akil), Courtenay Henderson (Soup aka Zaakir), Marc 7, Cut Chemist, and DJ Nu-Mark. A partnership agreement was established in 1995 between the entities comprising Jurassic 5.

The group became widely recognized for its contributions to alternative hip-hop, often highlighted by their intricate lyrical deliveries and layered production. Over their active period, before an initial hiatus in 2007, Jurassic 5 produced six albums. These releases showcased their collaborative approach and cemented their status as a respected collective in hip-hop, earning them a dedicated following.

The members of Jurassic 5 have also pursued individual projects and collaborations, further establishing their presence in the music industry.
