King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard is an influential Australian rock band known for their prolific discography and diverse musical styles, ranging from psychedelic rock to heavy metal. After receiving the ARIA Award for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album for Nonagon Infinity in 2016, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard solidified their reputation as a prolific and innovative force in rock music. The band, which formed in 2010, initially gained recognition for their extensive output, distributing early surf music and garage rock releases through their own label, Flightless. Their first two singles, ‘Sleep / Summer!’ and ‘Hey There / Ants & Bats,’ debuted in 2010, followed by the EP Anglesea in 2011.
That same year, the band demonstrated remarkable productivity by releasing three studio albums within a single month, followed by the expansive 86-track live album, Live At Red Rocks ’22, in 2023. Known for unique transparency, they actively engage fans by allowing bootlegging of live shows and making studio files available. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard announced their 27th album, Phantom Island, slated for 2025, a year in which they also notably removed their catalog from Spotify due to ethical concerns.
